About me

I’m Emma, founder of Big Little Governance.

I have 14 years’ experience working in company secretarial and governance roles within FTSE 250 listed companies, including a large multinational group.

My experience spans the day-to-day running of a company secretarial function as well as larger governance and corporate projects, including board and committee support, annual reports and governance disclosures, AGMs, Market Abuse Regulation processes, employee share plans, entity and subsidiary governance, corporate transactions and statutory compliance. I also have experience of charity governance, having previously served as a charity trustee.

I set up Big Little Governance to offer that experience in a more flexible way, giving businesses and company secretarial teams access to experienced support when they need it, without necessarily needing another permanent hire.

I am based in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Outside work, life is usually a mixture of time with my daughter, travel and being outnumbered by cats.

My approach

I focus on the big picture without losing sight of the little details.

I like taking complicated things and making them simple, clear and easy to navigate. That might mean bringing the key issues to the forefront, creating a clear process or presenting information in a way that is structured and visually easy to understand, without losing sight of the detail that matters.

My approach is practical and considered: understand what you need, agree the scope upfront and get on with the work.

Support can be ongoing or project-based, from a substantial governance project to the smaller pieces of work that simply need to get done.

Governance work often involves confidential and sensitive information. I take that responsibility seriously and use secure systems and working practices to protect the information entrusted to Big Little Governance.

Client files are stored securely, with access restricted to appropriate systems and devices. I use additional security measures including multi-factor authentication and secure cloud storage, and can work within a client’s own systems and security requirements where appropriate.
